Karolina Muchova vs Elise Mertens — R16 — Women's Stuttgart Open

Down a set and broken twice in the opener, Muchova reversed the match on the back of Mertens' collapsing serve. Elise Mertens coughed up 18 double faults — seven in the third set alone — and once Muchova broke for 2-0 there, the bagel was inevitable. The Belgian had converted 4 of 6 break points in that first set, but Muchova answered by going 3-for-6 in the third and yielding nothing on her own delivery. First meeting, first on clay, and Muchova advances at the Stuttgart Open to a Round-of-16 date with Coco Gauff.
