Fabian Marozsan vs Matteo Arnaldi — R64 — Canadian Open

Timing did what volume couldn't. Matteo Arnaldi won 78 points to Fabian Marozsan's 89 and converted 3 of 8 break points to Marozsan's 3 of 5, but his breaks landed at the seams — games 11 and 12 to close a 7-5 opener, then game 7 of the third after Marozsan had broken for 4-2. The No. 30 seed landed just 40 percent of first serves and double-faulted seven times. Marozsan saved one match point before Arnaldi closed the pair's first meeting on record, 2 hours, 6 minutes in, to reach the Canadian Open round of 32.
