Tatjana Maria vs Caty McNally — R128 — Canadian Open

Break-point conversion decided it. Caty McNally converted 7 of 13 break points to Tatjana Maria's 6 of 17, with 13 breaks between them. Maria erased a 3-0 hole to take six of the opener's last seven games, then broke in game 10 for 5-5 when McNally served for the second set at 5-4. The 24-year-old American saved a match point and took the tiebreak. The qualifier had banked six breaks through two sets but never earned a break point in the third, as McNally won 81 percent of first-serve points and broke twice more. It ended 2 hours, 41 minutes in; the win levels the Cincinnati native's hard-court season at 8-8 and puts her in the Canadian Open second round.
