Seventh seed Iga Swiatek reached the Wuhan Open semifinals with a 6-4, 6-1 win over WTA No. 30 Ann Li. Earlier in the week, Li had beaten Aryna Sabalenka in a third-set tiebreak. Swiatek still hasn't dropped a set in Wuhan. Swiatek broke in the first game of both sets and held all eight of her service games. Li's best chance came in the first set. She had three break points and converted none of them, so Swiatek's opening break was enough to win the set. In the second set, Li had no break points at all. Swiatek broke again in games 5 and 7, and the second of those breaks ended the match. Li hit more winners, 11 to 10, but she also made 43 unforced errors to Swiatek's 28. Eighteen of those errors came in the second set.
