Marta Kostyuk defeated Sloane Stephens 6-1, 7-5 — US Open 2026 R64.
Marta Kostyuk and Sloane Stephens: Marta Kostyuk leads 2–0 across 2 recorded meetings.
Twenty-seven unforced errors, nearly one for every winner, and none of it cost Kostyuk the thread: she held eight of nine service games while Stephens hung on in only five of nine. The 11th seed answered the 208th-ranked veteran's lone break, in game 8 for 4-4, by breaking again in game 11 for 6-5. That makes it two meetings, two wins inside a fortnight after their Cincinnati match, and 1h 26m of work for a third-round place.
