Teodora Kostovic is through to the round of 16 at the SP Open, the WTA 250 that opened on São Paulo's hard courts on Sept. 14, after beating Brazilian wild card Luiza Barros Victoria in the round of 32. The match is recorded as completed, but its set-by-set score was not logged. What the record does show is a lopsided return contest. Kostovic broke four times from nine chances and held eight of her nine service games, winning 12 of the 18 games played and 69 of the 125 points. Barros Victoria won 11 percent of her return games to Kostovic's 44, though she did convert one of the two break points she earned. Barros Victoria, 16, was ranked WTA No. 903 at the time and playing on a home wild card. Kostovic, the 19-year-old Serb at WTA No. 171, had lost her three previous recorded matches, most recently to Aryna Sabalenka in the Wimbledon first round.
