Katie Volynets defeated McCartney Kessler 6-3, 6-3 — Nottingham Open 2026 R32.
McCartney Kessler and Katie Volynets: Katie Volynets leads 1–0 across 1 recorded meeting.
The No. 101-ranked Katie Volynets took down No. 39 McCartney Kessler by doing the one thing that decides matches this tight: she went 3 for 3 on break points while Kessler went 0 for 3. Volynets broke to open the match and again in game nine to bank the first set, then jumped to 83% on first-serve points in the second after just 59% in the first. She saved all three break points she faced. The win, her first meeting and first grass clash with Kessler, books Jessica Bouzas Maneiro next.
