Daria Kasatkina vs Zeynep Sonmez — R128 — Cincinnati Open

Both players finished with 94 points won, which left the margin entirely to who took the return chances: Sonmez converted five of seven break points while Kasatkina, given 12, cashed six and handed over 10 double faults against three. Then the WTA No. 61 had to serve for the match. Down a break at 5-4 in the second after game 9, Sonmez broke straight back in game 10 for 5-5, saved the one match point she faced and took the tiebreak, and the serve numbers inverted from there — Kasatkina won 48 percent of her first-serve points in the decider, Sonmez 75. Their only meeting on record had gone the other way on Roland Garros clay in May; 2 hours, 13 minutes at the Cincinnati Open squares it.
