·250·HardYexin Ma defeated Emerson Jones 3-6, 6-0, 6-2 — Korea Open 2026 R32.
Emerson Jones and Yexin Ma: Yexin Ma leads 1–0 across 1 recorded meeting.
Yexin Ma, a qualifier ranked WTA No. 174, recovered from a set down to beat Emerson Jones in the round of 32 at the Korea Open in Seoul. Jones took the opening set 6-3 and won two games across the remaining two. Neither serve was reliable. Jones held three of her 11 service games and Ma six of 11, and the first set alone brought five breaks — Ma in games 1 and 5, Jones in games 4, 6 and 8, the last of those for 5-3. The second set was where the match separated. Ma broke in games 2 and 4 and converted all three break points she created, while Jones hit six of her eight double faults in that set and took none of her three chances on Ma's serve. Jones led early in the third, breaking in game 1 and again in game 3, but Ma broke back immediately on both occasions and broke once more in game 6 for 4-2. Ma won 75 percent of her first-serve points in that set, her highest figure of the three. Ma, 27, had not played a match on the record since a July loss to Caty McNally at the Memphis Classic. Jones, 18, whose ranking peaked at WTA No. 126 this season, has not won a recorded match since March at the Miami Open.
