Ekaterina Alexandrova beat wild card Hanyu Guo in straight sets in the Ningbo Open round of 32. William Hill's market had made her a 77 percent favorite. Guo came in ranked WTA No. 240, against Alexandrova at No. 24. The match lasted 1 hour 42 minutes, and Guo saved 11 of the 15 break points she faced. Alexandrova still broke in half of Guo's eight service games. Her breaks in games 3 and 5 of the opening set gave her a 4-1 lead. Guo broke once in the second set, her only conversion from three chances, and Alexandrova held every other service game. Alexandrova landed just 45 percent of her first serves across the match. In the second set, though, she won 90 percent of those points. She also finished with more winners than Guo, 18 to 11, and fewer unforced errors.
