·500·HardTalia Gibson defeated Fiona Ferro 6-3, 6-3 — Singapore Tennis Open 2026 R32.
Talia Gibson and Fiona Ferro: Talia Gibson leads 1–0 across 1 recorded meeting.
Talia Gibson opened the Singapore Tennis Open with a 6-3, 6-3 win over wild card Fiona Ferro, a round-of-32 match on the WTA 250's first day in which holding serve was the exception. The two traded 10 breaks in 72 minutes: Ferro held two of her eight service games, Gibson five of nine. Gibson broke in the second game of the opening set, lost that lead when Ferro broke twice for 3-2, and still took the set. Two more breaks put her 3-0 up in the second, and after Ferro leveled at 3-3, Gibson broke again in game 7 for 4-3. The 22-year-old Australian, WTA No. 62, won 71 percent of her first-serve points to Ferro's 41, though she landed only 43 percent of first serves and served six double faults. Ferro, 29, had no match on record since a French Open loss to Mirra Andreeva in May. She arrived at WTA No. 107, her season peak after starting the year at No. 364.
