Taylor Fritz defeated Lorenzo Sonego 4-6, 6-3, 6-4, 7(7)-6(5) — Wimbledon 2026 R32.
Taylor Fritz and Lorenzo Sonego: Taylor Fritz leads 5–0 across 5 recorded meetings.
Down a set for the first time all fortnight, Taylor Fritz took the return chances Lorenzo Sonego wouldn't: 2 of 4 break points converted against the Italian's 1 of 5 in a 4-6 6-3 6-4 7-6(5) win at Wimbledon. Sonego broke in game 5 of the opener and out-aced the No. 6 seed 15-13 across the match, but the margins lived on return. Then the second set flipped it. Fritz broke in game 6 for 4-2, lifted his first-serve points won to 88%, and dropped just three unforced errors in the set. Having conceded no sets to Lajovic or Kypson through two rounds, he moves on with the streak dented but the week intact.
