Magdalena Frech vs Nao Hibino — R32 — Guadalajara Open

Magdalena Frech began her Guadalajara Open with a 6-1, 6-4 win over qualifier Nao Hibino in the round of 32, two years after taking the title here. It was the seventh seed's first match since a first-round US Open loss to Iva Jovic. Frech won 86 percent of her first-serve points in the opening set and hit all four of her aces there, breaking for 2-0 and again for 5-1. Hibino, a 31-year-old Japanese qualifier ranked WTA No. 199, won only one return game in the match: she broke back for 1-1 in the second set after Frech had broken to open it. Frech lost one point behind her second serve all match, winning 11 of 12; Hibino won 58 percent of hers. Frech moves into the round of 16.
