Leylah Fernandez claimed the Singapore Tennis Open title, beating Talia Gibson 7-5, 6-0 in the final of the WTA 250 event. The opening set carried five breaks of serve. Gibson broke back twice, levelling at 3-3 and then answering Fernandez's next break at once for 4-4. Fernandez broke again in game 11 for 6-5 and served out the set. Gibson did not win another game, and she had no break point in the second, where Fernandez broke in games 1, 3 and 5. Across the match Fernandez won 67 percent of her return games to Gibson's 25. Gibson, a 22-year-old Australian ranked WTA No. 62, reached the final with a quarterfinal win over Maria Sakkari and a semifinal walkover from Tatiana Prozorova. Fernandez, the No. 6 seed, lost one set all week, to Maja Chwalinska, and beat then-WTA No. 5 Mirra Andreeva in the quarterfinals.
