Marcos Giron and Ignacio Buse: Ignacio Buse leads 2–0 across 2 recorded meetings.
Three match points came and went in the fourth-set tiebreak, and Ignacio Buse answered by breaking Marcos Giron in game 1 of the decider, again in game 3 for 2-1, and once more in game 5 for 4-1. Giron's first serve landed 40 percent of the time. That handed the 32nd seed 9 of 23 return games against 5 of 22 the other way, with the 33-year-old American holding just 14 of 23 times on serve; in the fifth he won 45 percent of his first-serve points to Buse's 83. Their only meeting on record had run the same course, from a set down on grass in June. The fourth match point stuck, and the Winston-Salem champion's streak reaches six.
