Alexandra Eala defeated Elina Svitolina 6-3, 6-4 — Washington Open 2026 Quarterfinal.
Alexandra Eala and Elina Svitolina: Alexandra Eala leads 2–0 across 2 recorded meetings.
Serve was a liability at both ends, but Alexandra Eala punished it harder, winning 6 of 10 return games to Elina Svitolina's 3 of 9 and cashing 6 of 16 break points. Svitolina broke in game 1 of the second set for 1-0; Eala answered with a break in game 6 for 3-3. The betting market still priced the No. 2 seed at 58 percent, a price that ignored June, when the WTA No. 29 beat her at the Berlin Tennis Open by an identical score. Eala closed on a third match point, 1 hour, 33 minutes in, taking both meetings on record and a place in the Washington Open semifinals.
