Jessica Pegula defeated Sorana Cirstea 6-3, 6-4 — US Open 2026 R16.
Jessica Pegula and Sorana Cirstea: Jessica Pegula leads 2–0 across 2 recorded meetings.
Holding serve was largely optional here: 10 breaks landed across 18 games, and Pegula held only five of nine of her own. She moved past Cirstea on the strength of the return anyway, taking 19 of 36 points against the Romanian's first serve and breaking in game 9 for 6-3 to end the opener. It is a fourth straight win at the US Open, the lone set she has dropped all week coming against Fernandez, and the quarterfinal berth cost her 1h 18m.
