Raphael Collignon vs Alexei Popyrin — R64 — Canadian Open

Not once in nine return games did Raphael Collignon so much as reach break point. A 60 percent favorite with the betting market after beating Popyrin at Halle in June, their only prior meeting on record, the No. 32 seed dropped serve three times while Alexei Popyrin held all nine service games and won 84 percent of first-serve points. Popyrin converted 3 of 9 break points — one of them for 2-1 in game 3 of the second set — and closed on a second match point, 74 minutes in. For the Australian, who turned 27 on match day after arriving at the Canadian Open on a five-match slide, it's a first run of back-to-back wins since Geneva in May.
