Janice Tjen vs Dayana Yastremska — R32 — Monterrey Open

The break that should have ended it came in game 9 of the third, Janice Tjen nudging ahead for 5-4, and then she was broken back serving for the match. The serve that built her rise did the rest. Tjen fired 12 aces to Yastremska's four, six of them in the deciding set, and won 74% of her first-serve points there after being broken in games 1 and 3 of the opener. The wild card built that opening set on two of six break chances, then paid for eight double faults and finished 91-97 down in total points. It ran 2 hours 11 minutes, and it steadies a 7-11 hard-court season for the seventh seed, who moves into the last 16.
