Clara Burel defeated Elsa Jacquemot 6-1, 6-1 — Iași Open 2026 R16.
Clara Burel and Elsa Jacquemot: Clara Burel leads 1–0 across 1 recorded meeting.
Jacquemot never held serve. A 622-place ranking gap framed this as a heavyweight upset, but the pre-match market listed Clara Burel at 60 percent anyway, and the WTA No. 702 justified the price, sweeping all six of her return games and 14 of 15 first-return points while Elsa Jacquemot won just five of 15 behind her own first serve. Playing her third match on record since October 2024, the 25-year-old from Rennes now has a quarterfinal at the Iași Open. The eighth seed converted both break points she earned and saved three match points, but the whole afternoon still fit inside 63 minutes.
