Joao Fonseca defeated Matteo Berrettini 6-3, 6-2 — Monte-Carlo Masters 2026 R16.
Matteo Berrettini and Joao Fonseca: Joao Fonseca leads 1–0 across 1 recorded meeting.
Fonseca gave Berrettini almost nothing on return, holding the Italian to 10% of first-serve return points won across the Monte-Carlo match. Berrettini's serve cracked in set two — four breaks, just 55% of first-serve points won — and his 24 unforced errors to Fonseca's 13 told the rest. Fonseca, into his first clash with these two, draws Zverev next.
