·Masters·HardAnn Li defeated Belinda Bencic 6-4, 6-3 — China Open 2026 R32.
Belinda Bencic and Ann Li: Ann Li leads 2–0 across 2 recorded meetings.
Ann Li reached the round of 16 at the China Open in Beijing by beating ninth seed Belinda Bencic in straight sets. She dropped serve only once in 78 minutes. The 21st-seeded American, ranked WTA No. 30, was the underdog in the third-round match. The betting market had made Bencic, WTA No. 12, about a 70 percent favorite. Li's first set mixed eight aces with five double faults. She broke for 2-0 in the second game. Bencic broke back in game 7 to close to 3-4, but Li converted both of her break points in the set and took it 6-4. All three of Bencic's break points came in that opening set, and she converted one. In the second set, Li hit no double faults and Bencic did not earn a break point. Li's only break of the set, in game 4, put her ahead 3-1. She finished with 11 aces to Bencic's two and converted all three of her break points. Li is now 2-0 against Bencic in meetings on record. The earlier of the two, also on a hard court, was a 6-3, 6-3 win for Li in the second round of the 2025 US Open.
