Mattia Bellucci vs Luciano Darderi — R32 — Winston-Salem Open

The first-serve exchange inverted after the opening set: Bellucci won 83 percent of his first-serve points in the set he banked and 57 percent by the third, while Darderi's climbed from 69 to 80. Bellucci went 0 for 4 in the second. The break he needed had already gone the other way in game 1 of that set, Darderi for 1-0, and the Argentina-born Italian broke again in game 7 of the third. A heavy-topspin baseliner whose game is built for dirt, the second seed had lost his previous two and came in 7-7 on hard this year. Two hours and 14 minutes on, he has a second win over Bellucci on record — the first off clay — and a round-of-16 place.
