Karolina Pliskova and Diana Shnaider: Diana Shnaider leads 2–0 across 2 recorded meetings.
All five aces in the match belonged to Pliskova, which settled nothing: the 56th-ranked Czech won 4 of 18 second-serve points and was broken four times in the opener alone. Shnaider's one swing in the second came in game 5, a break back for 2-3, and Pliskova saved a match point in the tiebreak before the 15th seed closed it out in 1 hour 23 minutes. Twelve of 19 games, and a third round to show for it.
