Keys won every first-serve point in the opening set; when that fell to 59 percent in the second, Bejlek, up to 79 on her own, broke for 3-3 in game 6 and again in game 10. Then she nearly gave it back. Breaks in games 2 and 4 of the third put the 20-year-old Czech up 4-0 before Keys broke back in game 7 for 2-5, saving a match point to force a tiebreak. Two hours and 38 minutes took Bejlek past a 1000-level ceiling that had stood at the round of 16, into the Cincinnati semifinals a day after ousting top-ranked Sabalenka.
