Tomas Martin Etcheverry and Mariano Navone: Tomas Martin Etcheverry leads 1–0 across 1 recorded meeting.
The one break point Navone earned all afternoon he converted, and it bought him nothing. Etcheverry held 13 of his 14 service games and broke four times from eight looks, the separation arriving in game 8 of the third for 5-3 after Navone had been broken back immediately in the second. Two hours and 25 minutes of it leaves the 27th seed in the US Open fourth round, with one set dropped across three matches and no prior meetings with the 48th-ranked Argentine on record.
