Diane Parry vs Ann Li — SF — Monterrey Open

Fifth-seeded Li won more points than the woman who beat her, 88 to 84, and still lost the Monterrey Open semifinal. The 60 percent favorite with the betting market converted three of her 12 break points. Parry answered with four from seven and saved nine of the 12 she faced, closing on a break in game 10 for 6-4. Eight of Li's chances came in that second set; one landed, and the match point she saved only pushed the finish out to two hours and two minutes. Parry has now won both meetings on record with the fifth seed, and a week that already accounted for Tauson hands her a final and a shot at a first tour-level title.
