·500·HardUgo Humbert defeated Brandon Nakashima 6-3, 6-2 — Japan Open 2026 R32.
Brandon Nakashima and Ugo Humbert: Ugo Humbert leads 3–0 across 3 recorded meetings.
Ugo Humbert, a French left-hander ranked 33rd, upset fifth seed Brandon Nakashima in the Japan Open's round of 32 without facing a break point. The betting market had made Nakashima a 70 percent favorite, even though Humbert had won both of their previous meetings on record. Nakashima, ranked 16th, had reached the Canadian Open final and the Cincinnati Open semifinals in August. Humbert held all nine of his service games in the 70-minute match. Nakashima saved six of the seven break points he faced in the opening set, which stayed on serve until Humbert broke in game 8 for 5-3. Humbert broke again in the first and third games of the second set to lead 3-0. The win ended a three-match losing streak for Humbert, who was runner-up at the Japan Open in 2024.
