Emerson Jones vs Linda Fruhvirtova — R128 — Miami Open

Emerson Jones, ranked #147, took down the higher-seeded Linda Fruhvirtova after dropping the opener — and Fruhvirtova handed her plenty of help, spraying seven double faults to Jones's one across the 171-minute night. Neither tiebreak was clean: Set 2 alone produced five breaks of serve over its final seven games before the breaker, and a match point came and went before Jones closed it. Total points split 127-126 in Fruhvirtova's favor, yet Jones found the two she needed. She gets Elina Svitolina next.
