Eighth-seeded Ben Shelton lost the opening set and won the next three, beating No. 11 seed Frances Tiafoe in the US Open semifinal to reach the final. His best major results on record had been semifinals, at the 2023 US Open and the 2025 Australian Open. Tiafoe broke in game 10 to take the first set, which Shelton ended with 14 unforced errors, more than in any set after. Shelton finished with 20 aces to Tiafoe's three, eight of them in the fourth set, and held 18 of 20 service games. He won 54 percent of his second-serve points, Tiafoe 38. Tiafoe saved a match point before Shelton broke in game 12 to close out the match. No. 2 Alexander Zverev awaits in the final.
