Maya Joint is into the Korea Open semifinals, the fifth seed beating No. 3 seed Lanlana Tararudee 6-4, 6-3 in a Seoul quarterfinal that ran an hour and 26 minutes. The betting market had made Tararudee a narrow favorite at 53 percent. Joint broke in game 3 of both sets for a 2-1 lead, and she finished the first by breaking again in game 10 for 6-4. Tararudee, who has climbed from WTA No. 131 to No. 61 this season, held six of her nine service games and double-faulted seven times. Her one break of the match came straight back for 2-2 in the second set; Joint broke again in game 7 for 4-3 and closed out the set 6-3. The 20-year-old Australian's season has run the other way: she began 2026 at WTA No. 32, peaked at No. 28 and came into this quarterfinal ranked 68th, with an 8-12 hard-court record for the season. She has dropped one set all week, in her opener against Xinxin Yao.
