Laura Siegemund vs Jasmine Paolini — R64 — Madrid Open

Jasmine Paolini trailed after dropping the opener 6-3, then flipped the match by tightening her second serve and feasting on Laura Siegemund's. The German's five double faults — against just two from Paolini — kept handing back free points across the final two sets, and Paolini won 65% of her second-serve return points to break through. From 48% of total points in defeat, Siegemund couldn't string holds together as Paolini closed it 6-2, 6-4. It's a first career meeting, and Paolini's first clash with Siegemund on clay.
