Alejandro Tabilo and Adrian Mannarino: Adrian Mannarino leads 1–0 across 1 recorded meeting.
Adrian Mannarino, ranked ATP No. 78, never lost serve in a 6-4, 6-4 win over third seed Alejandro Tabilo in the Chengdu Open round of 16. Tabilo, ATP No. 32, had a bye into the round of 16, so his tournament amounted to one match of 1 hour 29 minutes. The betting market had favored him at 62 percent. One break per set settled it. Mannarino broke in game 7 of the first set for 4-3 and again in game 9 of the second for 5-4, holding from there both times. Tabilo earned three break points across the match and converted none of them. The serving split ran against type. Mannarino landed just 33 percent of first serves but won 81 percent of those points and struck 10 aces; Tabilo put 80 percent of his first serves in and won 67 percent behind them. The totals stayed close, 66 points to 61. Tabilo did save a match point before Mannarino closed it out. Mannarino, a 38-year-old left-hander, had won one of his five matches before this week, and he needed a first-set tiebreak to get past Juncheng Shang in the previous round. The pair had no prior meetings on record. He goes through to the quarterfinals.
