Darja Vidmanova vs Nikola Bartunkova — QF — Monterrey Open

A second-set tiebreak gone, eight double faults on the sheet, and Bartunkova still needed only one clean swing in the decider — a break in game 8 for 5-3. The gap lived on the second serve, where she won 30 of 58 points there to Vidmanova's 14 of 43, and she held 13 of her 15 service games. The two had no prior meetings on record, which showed in an opening set that changed hands four times. Two hours and 38 minutes later she has a Monterrey semifinal, and a first tour title still to chase.
