Gaubas is Lithuania's top-ranked man, a right-hander out of Šiauliai who picked up the game at four on carpet courts and has trained in Alicante since 2022 under Guillermo García-López, the former ATP No. 23. The ranking was built on Spanish clay — four ITF titles, three of them in Spain — before a maiden Challenger title in Cordenons in 2024 and a second at the inaugural Open Menorca in April 2025.
He describes himself as an aggressive baseliner who takes the initiative with the forehand and admits defense is the weaker side, and the career rates agree: a 2.7 percent ace rate and 68.1 percent of service games held against 36.2 percent of return points won. At 1.78 m he wins matches by owning the rally, not by shortening it.
The Rome week of May 2025 is still the marker. Ranked 154th, he qualified into the Italian Open, took a first top-100 win over Damir Dzumhur, then beat then-ATP No. 28 Denis Shapovalov 6-3, 6-4 to become the first Lithuanian into a Masters 1000 third round, where Alexander Zverev ended it. A career high of ATP No. 101 followed on 2 March 2026, then first Grand Slam main draws at the French Open and Wimbledon, plus a win over Sebastian Baez at the Madrid Open.
As of September 2026 he sits at ATP No. 121, 42 places better than a year earlier though 20 off the March peak, with a 3-8 season whose high point was a February quarterfinal at the Chile Open. He last played a tour main draw at Estoril in July and reached the third qualifying round of the US Open in late August. He turns 22 in December.
