Emerson Jones is an 18-year-old Australian right-hander from the Gold Coast, born on 7 July 2008 into a household that had already produced an Olympian — her mother, Loretta Harrop, won triathlon silver in Athens in 2004 — and she picked up a racquet at four at a club on the Coast before turning pro in 2023 and reaching her first ITF final, at W15 Caloundra, aged 14.
The junior résumé arrived quickly. She plays an aggressive baseline game built on a two-handed backhand, taking the ball early rather than grinding, which is why the junior majors suited her: girls' singles finalist at both the Australian Open and Wimbledon in 2024, beaten in both by Renata Jamrichova, and ITF junior combined No. 1 that September, the first Australian to top those rankings since Jelena Dokic in 1998.
Tour level has been the slower education. Her first main-draw win came at the 2025 Adelaide International, 6-4, 6-0 over Xinyu Wang, and her Slam debut followed days later against Elena Rybakina at the Australian Open. In 2026 she beat 43rd-ranked Tatjana Maria in Brisbane and recovered from a set down against Linda Fruhvirtova for a first WTA 1000 win at the Miami Open. The ball-striking has travelled, though the serve hasn't yet, as evidenced by a career hold rate of 42.6 percent and an ace rate of 1.2.
As of September 2026 she sits at a career-high WTA No. 126, first reached on 25 August, up 54 places from 180 a year earlier on 601 WTA points, with four ITF titles and none at tour level. The 2026 main-draw ledger reads 2-6, Iga Swiatek among the losses at the French Open: the ranking, not the record, is the marker here.
Emerson Jones's tour-reported career prize money is $727,846 USD (WTA, as of Sep 28, 2026); the 2026 reported season total is $423,036 USD; and the ledger below itemises 9 published main-draw singles awards from 2025 to 2026.
