Katarzyna Kawa About

Kawa, 33, beat WTA No. 60 Maria in a 2026 season played on clay

Katarzyna Kawa is a 33-year-old right-hander from Krynica-Zdrój, Poland, whose recorded 2026 has played out entirely on clay. Our archive holds five matches for her this season, all on that surface, and she won two of them.

The better win came in April, a 6-3, 6-3 result against Tatjana Maria, then WTA No. 60, in the Copa Colsanitas round of 16 — the highest-ranked opponent she has beaten in our records. In July she saw off Simona Waltert, ranked WTA No. 90 at the time, 6-1, 6-4 at the Iași Open.

Panna Udvardy accounted for two of her three defeats, including a round-of-16 loss in Iași in which Kawa won the opening set 6-1 before dropping the next two. Paula Badosa then beat her 7-5, 6-4 in the Hamburg Open round of 32 on July 22.

Across those five matches she held 59.6% of her service games and won 45.9% of return points, which works out to a break against her in roughly two of every five games she served.

She opened 2026 at WTA No. 134, reached No. 119 at her season peak and stood at No. 128 on September 14, 2026. The best rank in our records is WTA No. 115, first logged in July 2025.
