Dominika Salkova About

Seven ITF titles, no slam main draw: Salkova's long climb

Salkova is a 22-year-old Czech right-hander who has built a career on the ITF and WTA 125 circuits rather than the show courts. Her entry point was home soil: a first WTA qualifying start in Prague in 2021 as a wild card, then a return in 2022 as a qualifier, when she beat Ylena In-Albon for a first tour-level win before eventual champion Marie Bouzkova stopped her.

The game is flat, front-foot power off both wings, the backhand two-handed, and it reads best indoors and on hard courts. She is a two-track professional rather than a singles specialist, as evidenced by two WTA 125 doubles titles and a doubles career high of No. 112 in March 2026, one place better than anything her singles ranking has managed.

The build was incremental in the year-by-year ledger: three ITF $25K titles in 2023, two W75s and a top-200 debut in 2024, then a first tour-level quarterfinal and semifinal run at Jiujiang in 2025, ended by the eventual champion. February 2026 supplied the trophy that had been missing, the WTA 125 at Les Sables d'Olonne on indoor hard, sealed 6-4, 6-0 over Andrea Lazaro Garcia with the last eight games of the match and a semifinal win over former junior No. 1 Alina Korneeva behind her.

As of September 2026 she sits at WTA No. 118 on 622 points, up from 142 at the start of the season and 29 places better than a year earlier, with a career-high 113 reached in late May. July gave the clearest current read: a 6-1, 6-1 win over Oceane Dodin at the Prague Open, then a quarterfinal against Barbora Krejcikova that went in straight sets. The rung above remains untouched: third round of qualifying, at the 2024 Australian Open and the 2025 US Open, is as close as she has come to a Grand Slam main draw.
