Semenistaja is a 23-year-old Latvian left-hander who reached the top 100 the slow way, through volume: 16 ITF singles titles, seven of them in 2021, when nobody on the ITF Women's World Tour won more, the first two back-to-back 15Ks in Prokuplje. In Billie Jean King Cup play for Latvia she is 4-6.
The game runs through the lefty forehand, flat and down the line as the closing shot — she finished both the second set and the match with it in her first WTA 125 final. The serve is a delivery rather than a weapon, and the numbers agree: she has held under half her service games this season, 48.4 percent with a 2.1 percent ace rate, so the wins come from return pressure and rallies she is content to stretch, with a 2025 WTA 125 semifinal over Oleksandra Oliynykova running three hours and 27 minutes.
Two WTA 125 titles anchor the résumé, the first at Mumbai in 2024 over Storm Hunter, 5-7, 7-6(6), 6-2, from championship point down in the second-set tiebreak, the second at La Bisbal d'Empordà in 2025 — the season she qualified into the US Open for her Grand Slam main-draw debut and went out in the first round to Peyton Stearns. The top 100 followed that October, career-high WTA No. 87 on Oct. 27, 2025.
As of September 2026 she sits 109th on 714 WTA points, 1-6 in tour-level main draws and still chasing a first main-draw win at a major after first-round exits in Melbourne, at Wimbledon and against Anastasia Potapova in New York. The lone 2026 win, over Despina Papamichail, carried her to the Copa Colsanitas quarterfinals, where Marie Bouzkova ended it.
